Trump and Musk did not mention Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies during the interview

On Monday night, an interview between former President Donald Trump and X CEO Elon Musk drew more than 1 million listeners. However, Bitcoin (BTC) or cryptocurrencies were not mentioned during the wide-ranging two-hour interview.

The interviews covered a variety of topics, including illegal immigration, the economy, artificial intelligence and global warming. The interview was delayed by more than 45 minutes due to what Musk described as a "major distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack against X." "As this major attack shows, there are many who object to the public listening to what President Trump has to say," Musk said.

However, a report in the Verge disputed this, and an inside source said this was not true, putting the "probability of Musk lying at 99%." An alert from Netblocks, a cybersecurity watchdog group, showed an international outage at X Spaces, but did not confirm whether it was a DDoS attack.

On Polymarket, punters rated the likelihood of "cryptocurrency" being mentioned in the interview at 65 percent and spent more than $600,000 on the topic. Another market also looked at the likelihood of "bitcoin" being mentioned, peaking at 69 percent with about $330,000 invested. Each prediction market share is paid $1 in USDC if the prediction comes true and $0 if it doesn't.

Polymarket did not list markets where other digital assets such as Ether, Solana or Dogecoin were mentioned. Bettors also put more than $250,000 into Trump's mention of the word "Tesla," a 79 percent probability, but Trump simply called it "your car."

Some of the words they successfully predicted Trump would say in X Space included "MAGA," "illegal immigration," and "tampons." A user named 'bama1234' earned more than $1 million for correctly predicting most of the words Trump would or would not mention in the interview, with his biggest bet of $336,918 being that Trump would not mention "cryptocurrency."

The user failed to correctly predict that Trump would mention "MAGA" early in the interview, as well as "transgender," which he thought Trump would mention but did not.

While cryptocurrencies have become an election issue, and Trump announced his cryptocurrency policy at the recent BTC 2024 conference in Nashville, they have not been mentioned at mainstream events such as the first presidential debate.
