RariMe goes live: A new way for users to authenticate

Rarimo has launched the RariMe app, which aims to provide an alternative to the Worldcoin verification process.

Rarimo has launched the RariMe app, which aims to provide an alternative to the Worldcoin verification process. RariMe allows users to generate zero-knowledge proofs (ZKs) to verify the uniqueness of an individual without revealing their identity. Unlike Worldcoin, which uses eye scanning, Rarimo uses mobile phones to scan passports to verify user identity. Traditional authentication frameworks typically require third-party approval certificates, but zero-knowledge proof can be used to complete authentication without sharing personal data.

The Rarimo team had earlier launched an anonymous, blockchain-based referendum to verify the legitimacy of Putin's victory in the Russian election. Earlier this year, Rarimo lent its support to the technology for this anonymous blockchain referendum. On Thursday, Rarimo announced the launch of the RariMe app, which it hopes will allow users to authenticate in a more private way.

"Just as decentralized applications (Dapps) can use proof of humanity to restrict certain operations, they can now use proof of nationality or proof of age and simply request that proof," he said. Kitty Horlick, Rarimo provider director at Rarilabs, said in an interview with CoinDesk.

The first demonstration use case will see Rarimo use passport zero-knowledge proof to issue programmable airdrops to citizens of specific countries. "Privacy is freedom that no longer exists in cyberspace," said Lasha Antadze, co-founder of Rarimo. "RariMe wants to change that and it will allow users to interact in the Web3 realm with true anonymity."

The launch of RariMe marks a major step forward for Rarimo in terms of privacy and security. It not only improves user privacy, but also opens up new possibilities for the development of Web3 applications. Through this innovative technology, Rarimo brings a new solution for users to protect their privacy in the digital age.
